Pirates Of The Carribean-- Dead Man Chest
Well... Frankly Speaking, I was not really impressed by the movie.
Read on if you dare to read and continue to watch the movie... :P
For me, this movie has a plot that is slightly thicker than water. Johnny Deep Performance as Jack Sparrow is not particularly memoriable. At times, I can feel that he is overdoing the acting... Being over 'cartoonist' and such (maybe just like me)
But not very memorable.
Also, there are no new twist to the plot. The plot basically follow a linear route of Jack Sparrow, escaping from Captain Davis. And in the midst he tries to gets back at Captain Davis by getting his heart, which is supposed to be locked away in a chest.
Nothing new crop up and I was not particularly impressed with the plot.
If you have a thin plot, it is more than likely that you should make up with superb special effects and such.
Frankly speaking, the special effects fails to have an impact on me and such. I know that the giant tenacles of the sea monster 'cracker' do look real. And that Captain Davis and his crew are very much well rendered. But in special effects, I belief that if one will to use special effects for real life thing such as ship, water splashing and such, the impact on the viewer would be much less than if it was something out of the ordinary.
Well I do admit that there are cases when the effects are good, especially the sinking of Captain Davis Ship into the sea as it transform from a sailing ship to an underwater submarine, The swinging tenacles and such, However, I believe that in this realm when good 3-d effects are the common, I don think that good is just enough. Although the water animation are excellent, however, I detect 1 major flaw. There is a lack of shadow for the 'cracker' or sea monster. This is particularly visible in the last scene when the cracker swallowed up Jack Sparrow. I mean the lightning on Jack Sparrow space appears all the same when the 'cracker' appears up.
Also, in the second sense which is supposed to be one of the best scene in the movie, where they are having a sword fight on a spinning wheel, I can't help but notice that at some point it looks to me that the back ground is spinning instead of the wheel. Although I believe that this is a usual cinematic trick. But I don know how I catch it but I just do. So it left me with a bit of a disappointment.
Also, the timing of the appearance of people seems too coincidental for my likings and Captain Davis Crew, seems a bit too small to me...
Well, maybe I am a bit too picky, but if you guys are enjoing it please enjoy the show:P
But Well, I guess they are saving the best for the last.
