Rambling Thoughts

I cannot believe the how sick our society is nowadays....

The Three Year old malay girl that went missing was raped and killed

apparently by someone she knew...

What is happening to our world today???

Why is our world so sick???

The thing about this is that our society is really SICK. Why would anyone in the right frame of mind even do such a thing? TO RAPE AND KILL A KID HE KNEW???

Anyway, I was just thinking of the decadance of our morality.

In today society, money talks. And with that, morality became the sacrificial lamb. But looking at us. Do we really need so much money?

Let's take a look at my claims:

1)Society Is Sick

2) That's why our moral values are dropping

I will attempt to justify my claims now.

The Sick Society

Why do i say that our society is sick? let's put things into perspective.

It is often said that family is the building block of society. And hence, to investigate the society, let's take a look at the family first.

Divorces rates are rising, the stigma of being a divorcee no longer applies. By just this 1 statement, we can see that society is sick.

Divorce is not a mark of how modernised a country is. Let's take a look, why would people divorce. Because they cannot tolerate each other any longer. Marriage is no longer considered as a grand institute where the male and female promised to take care of each other, for better or for worst.

In fact, people are just getting together for companionship. Once things get into a rough ride, they call it quit. Forgetting their previous vows or how deeply in love were they with each other.

So why is that so?

The answer to this question is the rise of individualism. Nowadays, people are getting more individualistic. They want to have fun, they think of themselves more than they think of others or the world. Why do I want to do that? It is always I, not you nor the society. And to justify themself, they think of it this way: hey, as long as what i am doing is not bothering you, why should you care?

Hence, as things sour, people call it quits rather that to commit themself and tough it over. It is 'I', not 'We' now.

And let's take a look at why people are acting in this way. The answer is simple, because they are taught in this way. Other than primary school moral education when are people exposed to proper moral values?

The Parents?
No. Now with industrialisation and commercialisation, both the parents are working and hence we have given rise to a batch of adults that were lack of parental care and individualistic.
Now let me justify my statement. Take a look at primary school kids nowadays, what do they say?

"If you dare to scold me I go back tell my mama"

What type of adult will educate his/her child in this way?

The uneducated one. Uneducated as in uneducated in the way or proper conduct. Educated by commercial on being more individualistic is good. Educated by the ever corroding morality of the media.

Of course there are parents who knew how to teach their child. But taking a look at our world today, how many does? The act of modernisation has lead to people looking as the self indulgence and wealth as the only aim in life. In America, why do people wants to have chinese nannies?

Confucianism?

No, $$$ talks, because China is emerging as a major global power.

Hereby, I conclude that:

a) Individualism is on the rise

b) The family is failing about

c) As a result Society is ill

d) And we have crimes like this being committed.

A lot of you will not be convinced. At this point of time, let's take a look more. Yes, individualism is rising, divorce rates are up. But that does make our society sick?

I will say yes. A society in its smallest building block is the individual. If the average tom had no idea of serving the society except for the ultimate aim of his own benefit, then the society is sick.

Perhaps you all won't be convinced. But let have a minor test.

If the government today were to say: hey, tomorrow, we are taking a break, you can do whatever you want with no consequences, so just go and have fun.

*paused

What were you guys thinking of doing just now?

What stop you all doing the bad things are the consequences. Remove the consequences and the society shatters. No ones think of others if it does not benefit him. But should we do that?

If the whole world is full of rich people except for a single guy who is poor, if we don bother to take care of the poor guy, sooner or later the poor guy will

a)accept his fate

b) be revengful, rob a rich guy or what so ever...

An earthquake in sumatra can be felt in singapore. The world is connected, not disconnected. Society is a BIG individual not disconnected from the individual. Anything that affects the society will affect us as well.

Let's Ask ourself this:

Is this really what we want? This path that we take that lead to money as the ultimate aim with the individual as a solitary unit.

P.s. I

Perhaps I should clarifiy the word individual again... Individual on the narrow sense would just mean 1 single people. But let's take a look. A family that don care about others, A group of friends that don care about others. Ain't they just 'individual' also? What makes them stick together is because they need the other party and other then those in their circumference, they don bother to know more ppl

P.s. II
This is a very disorganised essay, I just tot as i type, there is no planning of outline so I apologise for being so incongruent
